With artfight just around the corner, I finally gave Rachnid a fully-fleged reference sheet, so I thought I'd reintroduce him here!
Name: Dr. Arthur Rachnid
Age: Mid 40s
Pronouns: He/Him
Though he doesn't remember it, Rachnid first met Octavius on the operating table. After the scientist's paralyzing accident involving an unstable, rushed, reactor, Rachnid was the lead surgeon tasked by Osborn with saving Octavius's life, and permanently rendering Otto reliant on Norman's good graces. Despite the surgeon's meek pleas, Norman has Octavius fastened into a tentacled abomination of a life support harness. Rachnid's guilt at failing to stand up for his patient will haunt him.
Months pass. Arthur takes a new position at Oscorp as a chemical researcher, swearing to never take another patient. While studying the potential power of radioactive spiders venom, Rachnid is blinded and mutated in an explosion, leaving him with multiple vestigial eyes. Norman, fascinated, experiments on the scientist, rewiring his brain. However, the experiment has an unexpected side effect. Rachnid's mind is damaged beyond repair, stripping him of both his memories and personality. He deemed a failure and discarded by the company.
Osborn offers this latest “monster” to Octavius as a sort of company. There is nothing kind about the gesture, he’s merely curious to see how long it will take for the two to tear each-other apart. However, Octavius has other plans. Arthur once saved his life, gave him the mechanical apparatus he now possesses. Octavius would repay that favor, if Rachnid would only help him expose Norman Osborn for the monster he truly is.
Motives / morals: Loyal only to himself and his associate: Dr. Otto Octavius, he seeks to destroy Norman Osborn at any cost. Though mild-mannered, his lack of emotion leaves him incapable of true trust and connection, as well as capable of true cruelty without the slightest hesitation...or so he has been told.
Fun Facts: Blind without his pincers, relies on them for his "web-sense," an electro-magnetic field able to capture and interpret vibrations as "sight." Relies on audio description or 3-D projection in order to read. Writes using special paper with raised lines, allowing him to keep his words aligned.

Thank you so much for drawing him!! Fun fact: but bro's birth name isn't Rachnid. Norman called him that for the bit after his accident as a way to bury his actual identity. Arthur is his actual first name though! He was able to discover that through some files that Otto hid from him‼️ Doomed old man yaoi and all that

Jokes aside omg I lowkey love him lol. I snooped through his intro post and I am such a huge sucker for well thought out ocs in canon stories hehe but besides the story between the two Docs, he’s just so interesting himself!! And like I don’t know a thing about the Ultimate universe but I’m glad that Ultimate Otto gets his own silly ocxcanon moment bc from what I understand Ultimate fans are rare to come by!
Anyways, I lowkey need more of these guys.

Had a dream last night I went to a(n eraserhead themed??) haunted house and it was just a long walk through corridors with no jumpscares until you got to a bedroom with a grey alien on the bed being comforted by her loving alien husband and we all just stood in a circle around her as she loudly gave birth to the eraserhead baby and we awkwardly congratulated her and then filed out.
