Children from a #village in #Mozambique. Our guide told us about a tiny village (one of many) along the #Luangwa #River, a natural border between #Zambia and #Mozambique, where a #ceremony was taking place. He asked if we wanted to check it out, and of course we said "yes." Docking our little #barge on a sandy #shore, we made our way inland through brush and trees. We came upon the smokey village where the inhabitants were celebrating the life of an elder who had passed. A central fire burned bundles of pungent grass and traditional drums were played as people danced and sang. The villagers welcomed us and embraced us, laughing at our #muzungu garb (as we were well used to by now). As we left a group of children followed alongside our #boat on a thin sliver of sand in the middle of the river, waving at us, making obscene gestures and laughing.
