The world’s a cruel place. Nothing we can really do. Humans love to judge and critique—it’s just in our nature unfortunately. What’s important, is that Axl is still doing what he loves, and us who admire him deeply are there to support him.

It does hurt me a lot when people have the urge to say terrible things towards a man who’s been through hell and back. It also shows naivety against ageing and what it does to the human body. Axl’s instrument was his Goddamn voice! You can’t simply change the strings when it wears out over time. The man screamed, sang—and gave his ALL during his glory days. Legends don’t deserve to be trampled on because things aren’t the same as they were over 30 years ago.

Seeing GNR in a stadium with over 50,000 people who support him—was one of the best experiences ever. There are a lot more people in the world who love Axl, than the bitter ones who could only hope to get a taste of what he’s achieved :)🤍

He was just the most down to earth human during the concert and you could tell his smile was so genuine and pure. After all the shit he endured throughout the years, I’m sooo beyond grateful to have witnessed his happiness in person—even just for a few hours. He deserves it, and a huge part of me feels at peace to know that he’s completely turned his life around and that he is doing okay. More than okay🤍

When Izzy quit the band in 1991 were you shocked?

I could tell, man. I could see that things were getting to him. On the Illusions tour he was travelling on his own, because he wanted to be away from the influence of the booze and drugs that was going on with us. From our first gig in ’85 to when he left, Iz was to my right side, the closest person physically to me on stage. And that counts for a lot. You can really tell somebody’s mood when you’re playing music with them. It’s a language all of its own. And Izzy’s posture, the way he was playing, the way he’d leave the stage... I could see what was happening.
