You’re my living legend
The month of September had been incredibly busy for you. You’d mainly been spending time on set and at various locations for your upcoming film, in which you were playing the main character—a girl from a rich and noble family who falls in love with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks. The story was eerily similar to your own relationship with Dallas, whom you missed terribly. With your packed schedule, you’d been seeing less and less of him, resulting in late nights whispering into the phone, both of you desperate to hear each other's voices at least once a day.
Dallas was obsessed with his little actress. He went to the screenings of every single one of your films, entranced by the way you looked on the screen in your pretty outfits; the way you were able to convey so many thoughts and emotions had him smiling to himself in the darkness of the cinema, pulling you closer into him. Dallas couldn’t deny that he found you the coolest person ever, and he didn’t care how soft that made him sound to others—he was happy with you, a feeling he had longed for all his life.
You were currently sitting in the dressing room getting your hair done into a fancy updo—a bun wrapped by two braids, with two chestnut front pieces framing your face. The scene you were filming today was an intense one, and the thought of it sent uncomfortable shivers down your spine. You didn’t really get along too well with your male co-lead; you found him irritating and slightly unnerving. Still, you had to remain professional. This was your job, after all.
Fiddling with the ends of your long black slip dress, you tried to recall your lines when you heard a knock on your door. Glancing up, you were pleasantly surprised to see the person you had been daydreaming about—Dallas. It had been raining outside, and his wispy strands of hair were plastered to his forehead, his clothes also slightly damp from the rain.
“Hey.”
He smiled at you, and you got up out of your red velvet armchair and rushed over to him, trying to be careful with your hair and makeup but still wanting to hug him. It had been a good few days since you’d seen each other in person. He smelled so good. The rainwater mingling with his cologne was intoxicating; you hardly cared about getting your own clothes wet.
“What are you doing here?”
You were practically beaming at him, cheeks glowing pink and your eyes twinkling with joy.
“Thought I’d come and surprise you. I missed ya, you know?”
“I missed you too.”
You cupped his face and pulled him in for a gentle kiss, droplets trickling between you.
You spent the next 30 minutes wrapped up together in the armchair, basking in each other’s presence before you were rudely interrupted by a five-minute warning for your scene.
You groaned and buried your face in his neck, feeling a deep sense of uneasiness at the thought of having to make out with a guy that wasn’t your guy—especially one you didn’t like at all.
“What’s wrong?”
Dallas murmured softly, running his rough hands up and down your soft back.
“Ugh, nothing really. I just don’t want to do this stupid scene. James is so annoying and acts like he knows everything when this is only his second film.”
You complained to him, waving the slightly crumpled script around. Dallas reached for it and briefly scanned the contents of the scene.
Watching him closely, you noticed how his jaw clenched slightly. You lightly pressed your hand to his cheek and kissed him. He melted into your touch and gripped your waist tightly, as if he were scared to let you go.
Once again, you were interrupted, pulling apart with heavy breaths and flushed cheeks. You awkwardly shuffled toward the door and made your way to the set.

“Cut!”
You let out a long sigh of relief, thrilled that you had gotten through the scene with minimal issues or disturbances. Gathering all your stuff, you turned to see none other than Dallas standing across the room. You didn’t even know when he had gotten there or how he had been allowed. He stood with a stoic look on his face; however, he couldn’t help but smile as he met your eyes, happy that you could spend the rest of the day together. Just the two of you.
“Hey!” It was James calling you.
“One second, Dallas. I’ll be right back.”
“Wait. Is he giving you a hard time? I know you can’t really say anything, but I sure as hell will.”
“No, it's fine. Don’t worry—it’ll just take a second.”
“Okay.” He gave you a quick kiss on the cheek and squeezed your hand gently.
“Is everything okay, James?”
“Is that your boyfriend?”
“Mhm.” You gave him the shortest reply you could, not wanting to prolong the conversation but still trying to remain cordial.
“Hm, alright.”
Though his response seemed semi-decent, he was glaring at Dallas as if Dallas had severely offended him.
“Okay, bye!”
You quickly moved away from him before he could say anything else, making your way back to Dallas.
“Sorry ‘bout that. You wanna go out somewhere? I’m free for the rest of the day.”
“Yeah, that’d be nice.”
You smiled to yourself, feeling at ease again, but just before the pair of you turned to leave, Dallas leaned down and gave you a heated kiss, making sure anyone left in the room could see.
Laughing, you pulled away and linked your arm with his. You found it cute that, though he tried to appear calm, Dallas couldn’t completely hide his jealousy.
“What’s so funny?”
“Don’t worry, Dal. Let’s go.”
You still giggled to yourself, resting your head against his arm, and he pulled you in by your waist, wanting to feel his girl close to him.
