Fandoms stopped being a fun escape from reality when people started spreading the belief that you should prioritize purity over pleasure and the art you create must be a reflection of your moral standards at all times.
IDGAF if the women in my fiction are empowering or aspirational, I'm an adult, I don't need role models, I want the women in my fiction to be interesting, and if that involves being pathetic, hypocritical, amoral, or trapped in a delightfully dysfunctional relationship so be it
They’re lying in bed, enjoying a lovely post-coital afterglow. Terry is on his back, Daniel cuddled up next to him on the pillow, when his boy lifts a hand and delicately trails one finger along Terry’s cheekbone. Terry raises an eyebrow, silently asking what he’s doing.
Daniel hums a little and smiles. “You have beautiful eyes. Reminds me of the ocean when the sun hits it just right and turns the water clear like glass.”
Whatever Terry had been expecting, it wasn’t that. He feels something he hasn’t since he was a child – his cheeks turning hot.
Daniel smiles wider. “What, no one ever tell you that before?”
Terry doesn’t say anything. He just kisses Daniel and rolls him onto his back, pushing his legs apart to settle between them again.
No. No one had ever told him that before.
like for all that daniel is a Good Kid, it is important to me that when mr. miyagi first fixes his bike, and refuses payment for it, and asks daniel into the maintenance shed to see his bonsai, and teaches him to clip them, and teaches him to clear his mind of its troubles, the sum total of interaction he has had with this kid at this point is 1) daniel asked him to fix a faucet, 2) when he came up to fix it, daniel was beat up and visibly lying about why, and 3) he overheard daniel weeping to his mother that he wanted to go home. i mean mr. miyagi doesn’t know about him standing up to johnny on the beach, he doesn’t know about him bringing water to a dog, he has been privy to absolutely none of the moments where daniel is the most charming kid on god’s green earth. literally all he knows is that daniel is being hurt
& again, the movie does a lot to set daniel up as a likable person, but it does nothing to tell you that him being likable or brave or selfless is in some way how he earns his heroic arc in the movie. he does not earn mr. miyagi’s karate by being good. he doesn’t earn mr. miyagi’s friendship at all. it is not transactional. he’s suffering and he needs love and mr. miyagi loves him. that one quote from star trek about the most beautiful three words in any language are “please help me”
Wonderfully written, contemplative and thoughtful! The author takes the crumbs we were given with Axel and builds him into this rich, insightful, and very promising character. The world building in general is great, and characters, even side ones, are fleshed out and given life.
Highly recommended!
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Cobra Kai (TV) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Axel Kovacevic/Samantha LaRusso Characters: Robby Keene Additional Tags: Character Study, Post canon, Robby Keene deserved better, also why didn’t they introduce Axel two seasons ago, I am not overall a fan of the Cobra Kai mindset, This is going to be Miyagi-Do heavy in that sense, If the ending of season six made you very happy this is probably not the fic for you Summary:
After the Sekai Tekai, Axel intends to disappear. Or, well, no, not immediately after, he’s got some unfinished business left to deal with. However, he makes damn sure he’s out of his hotel room or anywhere near it when Wolf or Silver or Zara or whoever comes looking, because he’s not interested in fighting with them over what happened on the mat.
Broadly speaking, Axel thinks he’s lost his appetite for fighting, period.
Excellent fic with tremendous, stunning writing. Highly recommend.
Terry Silver always did have a knack for getting under his skin, for crawling inside his life and rearranging everything to his liking. He'd done so in eighty-five, when everything had been so still and peaceful—calm like one of Mr. Miyagi's Koi ponds Daniel used to do his kata by. But then Silver had thrown a boulder in those waters, disrupting the peace with such expert finesse that the ripples and repercussions of his actions could still be felt over thirty years later. A job well done, some might say. Definitely one that left a…mark.
...
In which Terry and Daniel run into each other at a divebar during the events of season five. It goes about as well as expected.
Warnings for: violence, poor life choices, bathroom blow jobs, porn with feelings, infidelity, and Terry Silver as a whole.
(This story was formerly titled 'no children' and was written for Cobra Kai Secret Santa 2023 and uploaded as a one-shot over 13,000 words long. For ease of reading, I will be re-uploading it in multiple chapters and doing some light editing. The title has been changed to The Last Exit, as I never liked the original title I chose, and find this one to be much more fitting.)
Can be read on my a03 here.
