Legendborn and Bloodmarked Spoilers

I’ve been seeing people are conflicted about Nick having a villain arc. Some people think he will others think he won’t.

Personally I think he will, we find out in Legendborn he lost his mother when he was a child because of the Order. Now in Bloodmarked he lost his father because of the Order. He lost Selwyn because of the Orders bullshit. (Because if they just had accepted Bree in the beginning he wouldn’t had to suck Brees powers which causes him to succumb to his blood. (But without all the shenanigans we wouldn’t have met valacki (don’t know how to spell his name sorry)) also since him and Selwyn are bonded we aren’t even taking about “the grieving” which we saw multiple characters who have been going through it and how it’s effected them. Now he’s lost Bree, he doesn’t know she went on her free will so she could get Selwyn healed but now he thinks the Order has her.

This man has lost almost everything he loves, what else does he have to lose? The order? He’s about to destroy the order any means necessary and I mean he might even try to kill Bree. 

I think their will be a time skip like a big one, maybe a year or two. This is gonna be a year or two of Nick being alone. Selwyn will most likely come back but I feel like Nick will be to far gone.

But what do y’all think? I need to have a conversation about this book and no one I know in real life has ever read it so, any theories?

Just finished Bloodmarked the second book in the Legendborn cycle and I don’t know wtf to do with my life anymore.

Slight spoilers

Nick’s character wasn’t really in the story a lot but I feel he’s gonna go down a villain arc in the next book. I feel like he loves Bree but his hate for the Order is gonna over shadow his love and he’s gonna do something crazy. Especially after the ending because he’s gonna blame the Oder for what happened.

Selwyn, I love Selwyn in this book. Did he piss me off? Yes. Did he make it up later on? HELL YES. I can’t wait to see him in the next book.

Bree, personally Bree can do no wrong in my eyes. I support black woman’s rights and wrongs. It kept pissing me off she trusted theses old white men but I understood where she was coming from. I also didn’t like how it took forever for her and Sel to have the conversation but when they did I was squealing. But other than that Bree is perfect in every way imaginable and she deserves better and to be happy.

The question and main theory starts with, did he [the shadow king] know?

Because if he did... that kinda changes everything!

So our options are:

A) He didn't know, meaning that he as Erebus Varelian had an affair with Natasia and assumed the pregnancy was with Natasia's husband (Did we ever get that man's name bc I cannot remember it for the life of me)

B) He had an affair with Natasia as Erebus but more likely as some rando guy and knew she was pregnant w/ his baby

C) Her killed Natasia husband, pretended to be him and knew that Selwyn was his child. (We saw how crafty he was to have been Erubus Varelian & Lawsen [warlock guard @ penumbra ]

I am leaning towards B or C, mainly C myself, bc I couldn't see Natasia having an affair with Erebus (She seems too carful in my opinion about that, especially considering that they have the same descendant) or some rando,

She doesn't seem to have enough time for all that drama...

but maybe slept with someone who was not her husband 🤷🏽‍♂️ and he just happened to be the shadow king in disguise.

ANYWAY

All this to say [ME THINKS] the shadow king did it on purpose, and if he did, he had a reason. IM he trained Sel as a child for fuck's sake so he wants to use him for smth

So his point on insisting that he was a lost cause for consuming Bree's root means that [I think] he wanted everyone to give up on him! Turn him onto his side eventually when he needed him, just as he was trying to do with Bree (by telling her that she would be rejected for forgetting all her living loved ones).

after that I am kinda stuck bc I don't know where the books will go from here as we have The King, The Knight and The Prince reunited again with their history and true lineages in the know, yk.

Zoe was so real for forgiving Bree after learning all this had been less than a year. like yeah ok that's too much in too little to expect normal communication

Mariah and valec's opinions on the whole "powerhouse" and "point of our spear" thing is soooooo good. I love nuance tracy deonn take my money

nick talking about sel constantlyyyyyyy. oh my god these two are gonna kill me. "please tell sel that when we find him" "sel would draw and quarter me" UGH

NICK HOLDING EVERYONE ACCOUNTABLE. truly that moment at his council hearing when he says we must name them when Bree is here AND when she isn't is just. yeah. go him. AND THEN the perspective of William checking himself and going "oh shit I have NOT been doing as much as I thought" was so good. tracy you're a literal wizard and changing the world thank you.

valec calling the merlins cops. fuck yeah they are. tbh doing a whole analysis on merlins abuse of aether users/experimenting on Black bodies would be so good. maybe I'll write a paper who knows

valec and zoe. make them come back

bree knowing she's loved as she meets everyone, not being able to love them back in the same way because of her memories, BUT choosing to love and support them regardless is just like gorgeous. the amount of hugs she just accepts and goes, yeah I need this, even when she can't do the same in return is perfect

ALSO after reading the ending going back through the book and seeing that there are several places where Bree and Nick are talking about sel and HE is the one calling her bloodmark. oh em gee.
