Legends of Rock #07 - John Lennon
Fab four week closes with the dashing John. He sang, played guitar and wrote consistently great Beatles tracks. These guys were truly Legends of Rock.
(all the Beatles are available through my shop and will be part of a set as well)
Legends of Rock #06 - Paul McCartney
Fab four going strong with the guy holding it down on the low end and writing a whole lot of tunes - some not the best, but some timeless and wonderful. Don't get much bigger a rockstar than Paul.
Legends of Rock #05 - George Harrison
Fab Four week continues with the lead guitarist for the boys from Liverpool. George seemed like a pretty cool guy, and seemed to stay cool for his entire career, which had to be hard. Big props to George.
Legends of Rock #04 - Ringo Starr
It's Fab Four week here on the blog! Kicking it off with the man behind the kit (sometimes the mic). So much has been written, argued, plum made up about The Beatles, I'll keep it short and say they're a pretty big band, and Ringo did well as the backbone.
(these will be available for purchase once the whole set is released on my shop)
Legends Of Rock #03 - Ray Davies
Next up, the leader of my favorite rock band*: The Kinks, Mr. Ray Davies. The first time I heard a Kinks record (middle school, Sleepwalker), it really did a number on me. The Kinks have been the most enduring and consistent musical obsession I've had since that first taste. Ray Davies is the man behind the sometimes absurd, sometimes lovely rock-pop group that spanned three decades. I'm afraid The Kinks are one of those bands that most everyone has heard of, but not so many have heard anything other than You Really Got Me or Lola. Hoping this will help and ya'll like the illustration! I'm starting to feel pretty honored to just draw these Legends, as I'm maybe getting a bit obsessed by each of them as I stare at their photos and read of their accomplishments all the while listening to their radical music.

*yeah, of all time.
ae album picks: The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society (1968) & Sleepwalker (1977)
Legends of Rock #02 - Neil Young
Next up, the most American Canadian ever to grace us with rock and roll music. There isn't a whole lot I can say about Neil Young other than the man's a true Legend Of Rock and his run of 5 albums from 68-74 is unrivaled in my estimation of rock singer/songwriters.
A Neil mix for proof of prowess.

ae album picks: On The Beach (1973) & After The Goldrush (1972)
Legends of Rock #01 - Ric Ocasek
Starting out with one of the most interesting looking people on earth (with the most improbable facial anatomy): Ric Ocasek. This man has put out a bazillion hits with The Cars and has produced albums for Suicide, Guided By Voices, Weezer, even my beloved Jonathan Richman. A perfect new-wave rocker and bubblegum popper, Ric Ocasek is a Legend of Rock.
To get you started in the world of Ric, I've made an excellent mix of the choicest Cars.

ae album picks: The Cars (1978) & Shake It Up (1981)
Got a new segment coming in which I illustrate Legends Of Rock (and most likely other genres). Hope you like.
One of the best couples in rock history !!! This chemistry never ends!
