Hello international tennisblr, are you familiar with Lollo’s blasphemy game? It is unmatched.

During a press conference Lorenzo was asked about the new Pope and whether or not he would like to meet him. Now, for context, Lorenzo is from Tuscany, an italian region affectionately known for their unmatched capacity to craft elaborate ways to swear by way of accosting the name of god with various and peculiar animals and creative adjectives. So: blasphemy or ‘bestemmie’. When the interviewer asks him about meeting the Pope, understandably, he laughs a little and then says:

<< It’s not easy not to voice [your disappointment on court], with a blasphemy or other things. I think lately I have improved a lot, it’s not something I am proud of >>

Slowed down part of the video where he says:

Soon after said press conference, he proceeded to deliver an iconic blasphemy on court where he attentively spelled the words in favour of camera, with the customary 🤌italian gestures🤌 to spice it up.

Segue a video montage of his best porconi tirati (blasphemies delivered) at Roland Garros 2025 with the words “Said improvements” overlaid and a song which basically says “ops I did it again” in italian.

(1) Favorite match:

My favorite match is actually quite obscure and I have no idea why I've latched onto it as my roman empire because its truly more tomfoolery and clownism than anything else but its the Jiri Lehecka vs. Lorenzo Musetti Monte-Carlo R32 (Musetti def. Lehecka 1-6, 7-5, 6-2).

My first full live match of Lorenzo that I promised to watch for @f1-tennisgirlie. My only perception of Jiri prior to this match was his match against Carlos in Doha which was nothing short of a circus main act to say the very least. I was in for chaos, and boy did it exceed my expectations by flying colors.

First serve? Non existent. First set breadstick? Served. Backhand? Dead. It was supposed to be a clean cut win for Jiri, but my guy knows not of the easy life, does he. Of course not.

Now say, hypothetically, if your opponent had a non-existent backhand, was failing to play the most simple passing shots without looking like a one-legged mongoose, basically had to pay child-support for how much he was making out with the net, and profusely spouted the most foul profanities known to his mother-tongue and mankind- hypothetically, you should win the match right? RIGHT? NOPE.

Here's the best of me feeling strong human emotions for men playing oversized ping pong on my screen:

TO CONCLUDE: hands down my favorite match, nothing will compare I fear (this is like my tennis match version of that one shitty book you get emotionally attached to as a teenager)

Jiri Lehecka I owe you my life for single-handedly (pun intended) reviving Lore's backhand from the afterlife. If this tennis stuff doesn't work out, or one Jannik Sinner haunts you to the ends of the world, I'd recommend you take up necromancy! For your sake and mine <3

I'm a pretty selective kpop fan but anything seventeen and boynextdoor gets me going. Bad Bunny has been my hype man through tough times (uni application process) and I love his vibe. Very whimsy, fae king energy!

Was this unecessary long? Yes. Was this unecessarily rambly? Also yes. But it's me, I'm all about dem rambles :3

with regards to the musetti/jannik thing i think (warning: speculation) the key point is that musetti was the hyped prodigy who was expected to be what jannik is currently for italian tennis. and then jannik sort of came out of nowhere. (see petko’s blog post about their match for the wildcard in rome and note who the buzz was about) also i think he’s been and is very much still the italian tennis media darling bec they love his “beautiful” play style vs the “robotic consistency” of jannik. there’s got to be complicated feelings on musetti’s part because of that. you’re lorenzo musetti and young and beautiful and everyone says your playstyle is basically art and the torchbearer of the golden age and the only ray of hope in the current dreary tennis scene. and while it’s true that jannik won titles on the atp tour before musetti, musetti had SO MUCH success as a junior. there were a LOT OF expectation for his future. vs today’s reality of the other random guy who’s “not as naturally talented” as you basically outstripping you and constantly overshadowing you. there’s no denying lorenzo has been cold to jannik - in statements to the media. definitely. but i mean, you can’t really blame him i guess. like how do you deal with being lifted up since very young as a generational genius and then having to live instead as the perpetual #2??? i do think his current rise and success will help to give him more certainty about himself which in turn will lead to more warmth(? i don’t know how else to word it) towards jannik ,,,,
