first of all… the epilogue aint even out yet and everyone and they mamas are complaining abt izuocha being canon. first off, nothing is confirmed. a handshake and blushing isn’t confirming anything!! second of all, even if it is canon, so what?!

the argue of it ruining ochako’s character development is not only so untrue, but just plain stupid. a major point of toga and ochako’s interactions and overall relationship is that ochako shouldn’t hide her feelings and that toga showed her that. even if the panel is a love confession, that just continues her character development because hiding her feelings also included her feelings for izuku.

im not saying that there wasn’t a possibility of ochako being in love with toga, im saying that you guys missed one of the most beautiful parts of such a complex relationship. also toga is DEAD. and it happened over 10 YEARS AGO!! She is allowed to move on. Like I’m a Togachako truther okay, but I do believe it could be seen as her pushing Ochako to move on, and also be in touch with her feelings. It doesn’t mean that it couldn’t have happened in another life.

I like the idea of her getting to move on with her life. And finally feeling like she doesn’t have to hide her feelings. Also, she’s at a state where she’s financially and mentally stable. I don’t really see how that would be a bad place to have a relationship.

And on the topic of Izuku, you guys.. and im gonna hold your hand when I say this..

Bakudeku had ZERO chance of becoming canon. Rarely will you see in a shonen anime a well written queer character, let alone queer relationship. You could argue that Toga was, but it doesn’t really seem like that was the idea he had in mind for Izuku.

Hii! I wrote a meta(?) of bkdks relationship in chapter 431. I know a lot of people don’t care anymore here, but I actually made it for tiktok (@wonderduoglazer) because people still spread misinformation there. I wanted to share it here as well because I'm kind of proud,,? I tried my best to stay unbiased, especially on the "Bakugou is depressed" part. This is my first time writing, so please give me tips on how I can improve :)

Also, the reason this chapter fell so flat in my opinion is because the lack of definition. Chapter 430, (although many fans didn’t like it — me being among the few who did), felt like a proper ending that served to tie most of the loose ends into a digestible and fitting closure — a perfect bittersweet ending to the beloved series. Chapter 431 however, seems to open up a whole new can of worms.

I would be happy with izuocha betting together, but their relationship has been pushed to the side for the majority of the last half of the series. And it brings back one of Ochako’s biggest faults — her inability to be strong in her own without being distracted by her crush on Izuku — and gets rid of Izuku’s most compelling flaw — his inability to separate himself from Bakugou despite their rough past.

Ochako was at her weakest when she had a crush on Izuku. Instead of focusing on her own strength and trying to be her own hero, she idealized him and wanted to be like him the whole time, which hindered her from becoming as powerful as she could. So when she separated herself from her crush on him and focused on becoming strong like him instead of acting like him, she actually had growth.

Izkuku would never say no to working at the same hero agency as Bakugou. It might be better for him, but he would never do it. That’s the intrigue of his character, the drive that Bakugou and Izuku give each other, the way they push each other and rely on each other. Izuku’s (sometimes unhealthy) unyeilding (but not complete devotion) with Bakugou is what makes him so interesting. He loves Bakugou (romantically or platonically) but won’t take his shit.

I’m sorry, but if you want me to believe anything that happened in this chapter, you’re going to have to show me whatever happened in the time skip that completely rewired the central mechanics of these characters brains. I would be willing to accept this ending if it didn’t feel as forced or rushed as it does.

My thoughts on the new MHA leaks:

First of all, it generally baffles me how much modern fandom relies on the canon. The point of fandom and headcanons and shipping is not to remain so strictly and exclusively faithful to the canon work(s).

Even in canon, they retcon and change things all of the time. There’s alternate universes and conveniently ignored details, etc. all of the time.

There should be no reason to bash someone online just because they are into a ship or subscribe to a headcanon that isn’t canon, (key word: headcanon). Literally all of this is made up. It genuinely has almost no impact on your day to day life outside of the internet.

I understand hating on a ship or headcanon that is illegal or unethical or otherwise gross, that’s not what this is about.

The insane amount of hate that bkdk shippers are receiving online is disgusting and concerning, not only from izuocha shippers. It’s honestly not even about the ship. The lack of polite debate and civil disagreement is scary.

Which brings me to my second point, the anger from bkdk shippers and togachako shippers is not unwarranted. I may seem biased as a shipper of both, but my distress towards the leak is not due to “delusions of grandeur” or hoping for a queer ship to be canon in such a large and mainstream manga.

I am very much aware of what ships are likely to become canon, but the ending has many problems and not just in terms of ships.

Many of the images seem to be enhanced by ai and lack continuity (Izuku missing a freckle, Bakugou appearing on Izuku’s other side without moving, etc.).

And plot wise/character development wise it just makes no sense. Ochako would never forget about Toga and their past so easily. Izuku would never turn down Bakugou’s request to be hero partners. None of it makes sense.

Of course every fandom will have toxic spaces, but it seems to consume the majority of the MHA fandom, which makes the series wildly unenjoyable to much of the potential and current fandom.

So no, bkdk shippers are not “the problem” and are not “delusional”, they are actively enjoying a piece of media and being shamed for interpreting it.

Insane.

Side note: I am also loving the angst, jokes, and headcanons that are coming from this leak, don’t get me wrong.
