How Fanon Hawks came to Canon's world

Fanon was facing a villain one day, one not too tough per say. Though, Hawks still doesn't know the villains quirk as he had yet to show it. Their battle went on for not too long, before Hawks had the villain pinned. He used his feathers to keep the villain im the air and out of civilians way, as he did, the villain began to laugh.

"If you think you got me? You're wrong bird brain! Enjoy your new life, maybe you will be just as useless in a different universe and you are in this one!!" The villain preached, as he clapped his hands together and spread them apart. A rift opened behind hawks and sucked him in, causing him to be dragged out of his own, Fanon universe, and into the Canon universe. As he was being pulled from univerde to universe, he felt his appeaeance and body change. He suddenly felt like singing until his throat gave out, and his love for endeavor seemed to skyrocket. He was suddenly filled with admiration for Dabi, and his height seemed to change as well, making him slightly taller than he should be. It wasn't until another minute went by before he was falling, in a state of panic, he flapped his wings ans tried to balance himself. Only... Fanon forgot how to fly for a moment and landed face first, into the hard concrete. This surprised many people in the area, causing them to crowd. This also caught the attention of a certain winged hero who was patrolling the area. Canon Hawks swooped down and landed in front of Canon, who was still onnthe ground.

"You uh... okay there...?" Canon asked, unaware of who this doppelganger was.

Fanon finally moved as he got up with a groan, and dusted himself off. He looked around and noticed he was still in Japan, only, he was face to face with himself. Many people gasped at this, two Hawks'?! How crazy was that?! Fanon rubbed his head, accidently scratching himself as he inspected his hand. Talons?! He tilted his head in confusion, then realized what he just did. Bird traits... oh no...

"Fuck..." Fanon groaned as he face palmed.

"Uhm... Who are you exactly..?" Canon questioned Fanon as he stood waiting for a reponse.

"I'm you... but uh, from a different... universe?" He questioned, he wasn't sure himself where he was and what happened to the villain he was fighting.

The villain! Surely he is in the universe as well! Right? Maybe fanon could track him down and have him send him back home! "Well... Hawks from a different universe, you wouldn't mind if I took you in to get you checked out would ya? Seemed like a bad fall." Canon stated, clearly skeptical of this doppelganger.

" Uh, sure, we can do that. I need to make sure my wings are sprained from that fall, and I didn't get a concussion too!" Fanon was worried he might have lost a few screws from the fall.

Fanon went with Canon, and after confirming a few things, he was well. Stuck there. That villain wasn't in this universe, and a DNA test proved Fanon to have matching DNA with Canon. From then on, Fanon lived with Canon and helped out whenever he could. Though his bird habits and newfound admiration for the Todoroki family, specifically Enji and Dabi, seemed to complicate things a bit. But nothing that couldn't be handled.

Lmao Dabi saying some shit like "you're mine" to Hawks trying to come off all sexy and hot and Hawks being sent into an existential crisis about how the commission owns him and now Dabi’s claiming to own him and how he'll never be able to exist as his own person with his own identity.

Ok ok so I headcannon for Hawks that silence is unwelcome because it causes him to think. Not having anything to distract himself from the constant anxieties and worries that plague his mind is borderline painful.

So in his spare time he avidly listens to music because he needs something to combat the silence. But he still feels the need to stay aware (because of his commission background and constant paranoia) so he therefore needs to listen to music that will guarantee there isn’t silence but still allow him to focus somewhat.

And what music is loud yet not distracting? Death metal!

Most people cannot read nor work while listening to music because the lyrics distract them. Therefore classical music and jazz is suggested to work to because there aren't lyrics.

But, if you listen to metal where there is so much screaming you cannot comprehend the words, it has the same effect.

And because Hawks is all about going fast, the tempo of the music would suit his mind better than classical or jazz.

Therefore listening to death metal would allow Hawks to stay alert AND never let his mind be silent!

(I totally headcannon this based on that logic and not the fact that I myself listen to death metal and want Hawks to also)

I genuinely find it so interesting how in Modern AUs of DabiHawks, Hawks tends to be like rich or well-off and Dabi’s either just scraping by or middle class.

In my mind, Dabi is forever the privileged rich one and and Hawks is the one fighting tooth and nail to survive because in their formative years, that's what they were.

It is so important to people's mindsets and personalities how they grew up and what they were introduced to in their main stages of development. People are shaped by their experiences, but the early ones in which you're still trying to comprehend basic concepts and define what everything is are so much more impactful.

Therefore I always have seen Hawks as someone who even when wealthy, is heavily connected to his experience in poverty as a child and never takes what he has for granted. While I view Dabi as someone who even with his less than wealthy experience (idk if he was homeless or found somewhere to stay after he 'died') still carries some bias with him from his rich background.

Anyway, in modern AUs I usually characterize Hawks as struggling and Dabi as rich.

(Also this all came to be because I read a dabihawks fic that had a mini rant about Hawks being an out of touch rich person with so much wealth that he couldn't understand regular people's struggles and I was like wtf he literally grew up in poverty)

Ok so one of my absolute favorite dabihawks takes is that Dabi burnt Hawks wings off (permanently in this au) because he saw that the commission was hurting Hawks and knew that the only way Hawks could get out was if he was useless to the Commission.

Therefore, he burnt off Hawks's wings permanently without telling him or alerting him beforehand because he knew Hawks would object (bc in Dabi’s mind he was brainwashed).

And that being the motivation behind Dabi’s horrendous act fills me with such vindictive joy because think about it:

Dabi resents his father for training him to be a hero all of his life then dropping him when he found someone better.

In Endeavor's mind, he wasn't wrong in what he did. Toya was the collateral to a better future. His quirk hurt him and therefore he would've been happier as anything other than a hero. Endeavor uses the power he holds both as a parent and as the number 2 hero (at the time) to stop Toya's training and then sweep him under the rug. He did what he thought was right without asking how Toya felt nor thinking of the consequences.

And are Hawks’s wings not just the collateral for the supposed happy life he will live after? Is Dabi not just exercising absolute power onto someone whom he does not understand? Dabi is doing what he thinks is right (not what is right, but what he believes is right because there is a difference) and not caring for nor assessing the consequences of his actions.

He is forcing a future onto Hawks that he believes is better just like Endeavor did to him.

He demonstrates the behavior that is usually characteristic of heroes with ignorant savior complexes that Dabi (and all villains) hate.

He mirrors his father's behavior and cannot see that because he is both blinded by his hate for Endeavor and the love he feels for Hawks because Hawks will be getting a better future (he does not have the fucking authority to make that decision).

(I also imagine Hawks in his empty apartment on the floor, struggling to keep himself upright while screaming this at Dabi. And breaking a little inside because Dabi isn't just like Endeavor, he's like the commission, also in this sense.)

I got too fucking attached to this fucking character and now the fucking Manga gods decided to fuck with him and his life is in fucking shambles and breaking into tiny fucking pieces right before his and my fucking eyes and half the Fandom fucking hates him and it frustrates me to no fucking end and I need a fanfic to heal him right fucking now without being ship centered with the person who fucking destroyed him or y/n because he needs to fucking heal on his fucking own and I will not fucking accept that "Yeah his entire life fell apart but he's in love so it's ok" bullshit.

I'm also in love with his dad who has not shown in the Manga and is a horrible person because a fanfic made him hot and gave him redemption.

You felt numb. Could numbness really even be a way to describe the painful emotions you were feeling right now? You felt as if nothing was going right for you, that things were crashing down around you. No matter how much you tried to pick up the pieces and put the broken shards back together, how painful it was for you to do so, it didn’t matter. Nothing made sense, and it was if you couldn’t get a win. You just wanted one win, just one. All your life, you always tried so hard to do the right thing, to be a shining light for people. But you felt like it was fizzing out, you felt like the light was becoming dim. 

You felt yourself get up but didn’t really process it. You felt yourself walk to the bathroom before shedding your clothes and turning the shower on, again not really processing as you sat down to let the water run off of you. You didn’t realize how long you had been in the shower until you heard the door to it open up, seeing a pair of tan boots in your line of sight before you looked up to see your boyfriend, Hawks. 

“Keigo….” you croak out, realizing that you haven’t made a sound all day while being home by yourself.

I look at the beautiful woman before me as her son reached out for me. I recognized those beautiful eyes from anywhere. The way they sparkle and shine whenever they look at me.

And her son...he looked just like me, from the eyes to the hair and wings on his back. I could ask questions later but now I needed to get them out of this building. I reach out to the boy then to Y/n and take them both into my arms. I wonder if he fell could he save himself and not fall.

I dropped them by a group of people before flying off to rescue others. I had half of a mind to leave the people and wonder who's child it was, why she left me, wet she never told me. I saved as many as I could before the villain went crashing into the apartment building and another hero reversed it. Damn, I barely did anything....

Clapping could be heard from all around me. The people taking videos and pictures and thanking the heroes and me for the hard work. I walk over to her, a smile on my face as the kid gets excited. His wings even start poofing up and fluttering, juts like mine.

I reach out for his hand and look down at her with a smile. "You're like my twin! We have the same wings" The boy said and turned in his mothers arms. She smiled for me, one of those fake smiles she would do for guys all those years ago to make them think they were getting somewhere but in reality, they were just turning her off. Why flash me a fake smile? Its been years and she just stands there.

"Yeah I know, except mine are bigger" I said, flexing my wings at the kid and making him giggle. "What's your name Kid?"

"My name is Hiro and this is my mommy." He introduced himself and my long lost...

"Well it was nice to meet you mr.hawks sir. Thank you for saving us, I really appreciated it." She bowed and tried to walk away with Hiro but I grabbed her Arm and held us in place. "Don't try to act as if you don't know me Y/n. He's mine isn't he?" Her face is shocked more if that's even possible as she turns her head away. Few people have stopped to watch the interaction.

"Why would you leave? Why would you leave him without a father? Why wouldn't you tell me?" Tears would start to trickle out of her eyes. I hated seeing her cry, even if it was over her period or something I hated it. "He's my kid, I have the right to him!!"

I let go and watched her walk away with Hiro while she cleared her tears. Hiro asked her something but it was dismissed as they disappeared into the apartment building. This would definitely be in tabbilods later. Shit.

I watched, perched from a tree as Y/n dropped off Hiro at daycare. As stalker like this seemed, I was not a stalker. I needed answers, I needed to know everything. From beginning to end. I was skipping my patrol for this too.

Did she tell me? Did I ignore it? I remember that night. She thought I was drunk and she was and it happened. She confessed so many things that night. How she always loved me but I didn't reciprocate her feelings and how she wanted to grow old with me. I found it cute. I reciprocated them back but she just pretend like we didn't do anything.

I flew down in front of her, completely stopping her from walking back to her car. "Y/n, can we please talk? I need answers." She lets out a Long sigh and roll her eyes. "What Keigo?" I swear I let out a cheer in my head.

"Is Hiro mine? Is he my son?" I knew the answer.

"Yes, He's yours. But don't worry, we don't need any child support or want to be a waste of your time. We will be fine without you."

"Fine without me?! This is my son and you keep choosing for me. You choose my fate and Choose what I want to do without giving me the chance." How could she decide for me, I hate when people do that and she of all people should know. "I want to be apart of his life. Y/N. He's our son." I could see her sigh and pull out a piece of paper, scribble her number and bow. "I have to get to work Keigo but he already has a father figure and I don't need the stress right now." She walked to her car and I heard the doors Lock. A father figure? Was she married? Nah, then who was he?

Almost everything that belonged to the l/n family was packed away and ready to be moved to the city. Sure, she was physically prepared but she wasn't mentally ready for the fact that she could see Keigo again. She did her research and found out he was going up in the ranks although he was pretty young in age. But because of his looks he was no doubt popular with the ladies. F/n felt the slightest bit threatened by that, she wanted to move out the friend zone and be in that place ever so long ago. But the one problem was how much resemblance hiro had with him, he was basically a carbon copy of him even with the big red wings that sprouted from his back.

But for now, the h/c woman needed to get her mind off of the issue so she could relax with her only love since Keigo. Hiro was at the babysitters today so Her and Elijah could be alone. They were kind of a thing, basically dating without the label. They kissed, hugged, went on dates, did the lovely bedroom tango. Hell, hiro saw him as a father figure and called him 'pops'. The perfect man right? You would think she would claim him already but something lingered on her mind all these years that stopped F/n.

A familiar set of headlights shining through the living room bay window snapped her out of her thoughts. Quickly, the woman ran to the door to see Elijah walk up to her and lock his car doors. They had done this same routine almost 1,000 times it felt like. "Elijah, you're 10 minutes late." She laughed, looking down at the gas s station bag in his hand, her favorite snack wrapper peaking out a small hole in the middle. He remembers, how sweet. "I'm late because I wanted to treat my queen with snacks so we wouldn't have to go out later. I do apologize but I wanted ti tame the fierce dragon in your stomach." The raven haired man laughed as he stepped in past her and took off his shoes and replaced them with soccer ball slippers he always kept over here. "How are you feeling about the move? It sucks we won't be able to do this anymore since you were moved."

"How am I supposed to feel? I don't want to go back into the city, I wish it was anyone else but me. Although, Hiro Is happy. You know he was getting made fun of a bit for having wings since this town doesn't have many mutation quirks. He's been wanting to make better friends so at least I won't have to worry about that."

"I don't get why you didn't move him to the school near me. They have more mutation quirks there, parents move them there after also getting bullied."

"You know those parents either have a scholarship or money both of which I don't have. I don't have the money to send him there, I wish I could've."

"But I could and would've paid for him, you can always ask him love the little man." Elijah started to scroll through the movies trying to find an interesting one on Netflix. Hulu was the next option. when they ran out.

"And who would take him every day? I'd feel to bad, how many times have we had this conversation Elijah?" She would get drinks before sitting next to him and leaning into him. He smelt like cherries, it was almost like a natural scent but it was really the lotion he used. They are his favorite after all.

"Lets just watch the movie okay? Fear street sounds nice, turn that one on." F/n said and Eli nodded in response, eating his hot fries while turning to the one movie they had never seen. This was a tradition between the two that happened weekly, Elijah would come over and they would choose a movie to watch. Sometimes, even hiro would join but most of the time it would be Elijah and Y/n against the world for years upon years.

The whole movie, Y/n had trouble focusing and all she could jump back to was the same questions that had been stirring for days. 'Will he forget about me? Would he stop loving me when I left? Would I move on?' These thoughts kept racing through her head before she finally couldn't take it and turned to the Black man beside her. "Elijah... When I leave, will you move on? I expect you to have women and men lined up after me, just ready to take my place. You probably won't even have anymore time for mr when you do." Her face was filled with hope as she looked through his face. "I won't be unless you replace me which I was hoping you wouldn't do? I know you wouldn't f/n."

Boy was he in for a rude awakening....

F/n nodded as tears started to prick in the corners of her eyes. No she wasn't the emotional type but this moment was just sweet or maybe it was her period making her overly emotional. He was the only other man she's ever loved though. "I love you Elijah"

"I love you too" He smiled and leaned down, wrapping her into a passionate kiss.

But did you really mean those words? Did you love him or did you love the attention you got from him? Did you just want sympathy from hawks and was mirroring through him? Is that why you claimed not to be ready when really you only wanted Keigo Takami even after all these years. So why were you still dragging him on? You can't answer that can you.

It's been four years since then and Diego hasn't heard or seen from you at all. Life was actually pretty good and Hiro was the best son you could ask for. He was friendly, cheerful, and intelligent. But he looked exactly like his father only with your eyes and skin tone. And it wasn't bad how  he looked but It made you miss him even more.

Now, you were putting the four year olds clothes into the dryer. He had just started to sprout his little red wings so all of his shirts had to get tailored in with back holes. And with him, he started to ask questions about himself and why you didn't have wings and he did. So you kinda lied? You'd tell him that his dad was a a hero and he was really far away but never forgot about him and doesn't have the chance to see him. At first he was upset but then he understood and left the subject alone. But you always made sure he knew that he was loved even if it was only by you and not his daddy. Finally, You finished with the laundry and brung the clothes that were in the dryer out of the laundry and into the living room to fold them. Hiro was watching blaze and the washer machine. His toys were all over the living room, "Hiro! Come get your toys up, I told you and I won't keep telling you again. Be a big boy, Okay?" You told him, Picking up one of his transformers. He groaned and jumped off the couch and grabbed his other transformers and hot wheels. "Did you finish your carrots?"

"Uh, Yes?" He looked away from you and his wings fluffed out his little wings. He was lying to you. It was the same thing as keigo. Thats how you always knew the both of them were lying. They would puff up the wings slightly and they would look away. Amazing hero but not a good liar.

"Hiro, Tell me the truth."

"I'm sorry mommy, carrots are nasty"

"Next time, tell me and I'll make greens or broccoli"

"Alright momma"

"Now go get in your Jammies." You told him and he ran up the stairs leaving you by yourself. However, he still didn't pick up his toys so you had to do it and put them in his chest.
