For four weeks, Nanami had managed to avoid you. Not out of malice, not even intentionally at first, but because it was easier than dealing with the chaos you had stirred in him.
But no matter how much he tried to focus on his studies, his part-time job, and the ever-growing expectations from his parents, there was one thing he couldn’t control—seeing you.
It happened too often to be coincidence.
The first time, it was in the library. He had been reviewing case law when a soft laugh pulled his attention. There you were, sitting with him. Ren Tanaka. The man whose name had become an irritant in his mind.
You looked comfortable, leaning in slightly as you listened to whatever Tanaka was saying. And when you laughed, something bitter settled in Nanami’s throat.
The second time, it was at the café near campus. Tanaka was paying for your drink, and you playfully nudged his shoulder in thanks. Nanami told himself it wasn’t his business. That it didn’t matter.
The third time, Tanaka had his hand on the small of your back. It was a brief touch, barely lasting a second as he guided you through a crowded hallway. But Nanami clenched his jaw so hard he thought his teeth might crack.
He didn’t act on these emotions. That wasn’t who he was. He didn’t let irrational feelings dictate his behavior. But it didn’t mean they weren’t there.
Jealousy was an emotion he had no right to feel.
And yet, it followed him.
Unfortunately, while you spent your time with Tanaka, Nanami was stuck with her.
Ayaka Takahashi.
The woman his parents had practically handpicked for him. She was polished, elegant, and everything a proper socialite should be. She had wealth, status, and the kind of family name that turned heads in high society.
And Nanami couldn’t stand her.
She wasn’t awful, exactly. But she was everything he despised—shallow, judgmental, and utterly consumed by appearances.
That Friday night, he found himself sitting across from her at yet another dinner his parents had arranged.
“I don’t know why you insist on taking me to these places, Kento.” Ayaka sighed, looking around the dimly lit restaurant with barely veiled disdain. “The service is passable, but there’s nothing exclusive about it.”
Nanami barely spared her a glance. “I didn’t choose it.”
She pouted slightly. “Of course. Your parents did. They’re always looking out for you.”
Nanami resisted the urge to check his watch. He already knew how long this dinner had been dragging on—too long.
Ayaka continued talking about something he had no interest in, but he barely listened, nodding at the right moments, offering short responses when necessary.
It was a routine at this point.
But then—
“Oh,” she said suddenly, her tone shifting into something sharper. “I completely forgot to tell you. My mother was at some charity event recently. You’ll never guess whose family was parading themselves around.”
Nanami didn’t have to guess.
Ayaka smirked. “The [Your Last Name]s.”
Nanami set his fork down, his movements controlled. “And?”
“And,” she drawled, tilting her head, “they were shameless as always. Acting like they’re so generous, as if they actually care about the causes they support. It’s laughable, really.”
Nanami’s jaw tensed.
“I mean, come on,” Ayaka continued, swirling her wine glass lazily. “We both know the only reason their daughter is involved in charity work is because she’s desperate for attention. It’s embarrassing, really.”
His grip on his napkin tightened.
“She’s always acting so sweet and innocent, but let’s be real—she’s just like the rest of them. Always looking for the next rich guy to wrap around her finger.” Ayaka laughed lightly. “It’s honestly pathetic how many men fall for that act.”
Nanami’s stomach turned.
“She probably thinks she’s being so charitable, but all she’s doing is flaunting her privilege. What does she actually do? Hand out food for a few hours and call herself a saint? It’s disgusting.”
His patience snapped.
“That’s enough.”
Ayaka blinked at him, her smirk faltering. “What?”
Nanami’s voice was cold, measured. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She scoffed. “Oh, please, Kento. Don’t tell me you actually believe she’s—”
“I don’t believe, Ayaka.” His eyes locked onto hers, sharp and unforgiving. “I know.”
Her lips parted slightly in shock.
“Unlike you, she actually does something with her time. She puts in the effort, helps people who need it, and doesn’t spend her nights gossiping about people she doesn’t understand.” His voice was laced with quiet disdain. “But I wouldn’t expect you to comprehend that.”
Ayaka’s expression darkened. “Excuse me?”
Nanami pushed his chair back, standing smoothly. “I’ve lost my appetite.” He pulled out his wallet and tossed several bills onto the table. “Enjoy the rest of your evening.”
And with that, he walked out, leaving her fuming in his wake.
The night air was cool against his heated skin, but it did little to ease his frustration. He shouldn’t have lost his temper, but he couldn’t stand hearing her name dragged through the mud by someone so utterly empty.
He walked aimlessly through the city, trying to clear his mind.
Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw it.
A restaurant. A familiar figure inside.
You.
Sitting at a table with him.
Ren Tanaka.
Nanami’s breath caught in his throat.
You were smiling, tilting your head as you listened to whatever Ren was saying. Your hands moved slightly as you spoke, your eyes bright and animated.
You looked… happy.
Nanami couldn’t move.
Then, as if sensing him, you turned.
Your eyes met his through the window.
Your expression shifted—surprise, hesitation, something else he couldn’t quite place.
For a moment, neither of you looked away.
And then, Nanami did what he always did when something unsettled him.
He turned and walked away.
His chest felt heavy, his thoughts a mess.
But one thing was clear.
Avoiding you hadn’t made a difference.
Because no matter how hard he tried to bury it, the truth was painfully obvious.
He was still caught up in you.

You had been haunting Nanami’s thoughts since that night.
He could still feel the lingering warmth of the moment—the soft glow of the garden lights, the way the stars framed your face, the look in your eyes right before you leaned in. He had stopped you. Walked away without a word. And yet, your presence refused to leave him.
It wasn’t just the near-kiss that plagued him; it was everything leading up to it. The laughter, the shared glances, the way conversation flowed so easily between you. He had let his guard slip, let himself enjoy your company more than he should have. It was a miscalculation, one he had spent the past few days trying to correct.
Avoidance was the best solution.
He didn’t text you. Didn’t acknowledge you in class. If he saw you across campus, he turned the other way. It wasn’t cruel—at least, that’s what he told himself. It was necessary.
His life had been planned out since the day he was old enough to understand it. He would become an exceptional lawyer, take over his parents’ firm, and uphold the family name. That was his purpose. There was no room for distractions—especially not one as unpredictable as you.
His parents would never approve. They tolerated your family, but only in the way one tolerated an inevitable inconvenience. Too much money, too little discipline, his father had once said. More interested in social events than serious legal work. His mother had been more subtle but no less dismissive. She’s charming, I suppose, but charm only gets you so far.
He knew exactly what they would think if they found out he had entertained anything more than polite acquaintanceship with you. They would be disappointed.
And Nanami Kento did not disappoint.
That was why, when he accompanied his parents to the Asakura Legal Summit, he forced himself to stand straight, speak eloquently, and engage in the dull but necessary small talk that came with these events. His parents’ friends had a daughter—a well-mannered, intelligent law student, poised and composed in the way that made her an ideal match, at least in their eyes.
He made conversation with her, answering her polite questions and offering equally polite responses. She was pleasant, intelligent, and respectable.
And yet, the moment you walked in, he forgot whatever it was they had been discussing.
You were breathtaking.
The gown you wore was elegant but effortless, the soft fabric flowing around you as if you belonged in a dream. Your confidence, the way you carried yourself, only made it worse.
You saw him. Your eyes met.
For a second, he thought—hoped—you might come over. But you didn’t. You simply glanced away, turning your attention to someone else, leaving a hollow ache in his chest he hadn’t anticipated.
This is for the best, he reminded himself.
But as the night dragged on, it became unbearable. Every time he saw you laughing with someone, every time you charmed another guest with your easy grace, every time you didn’t look at him—it chipped away at the careful walls he had built.
And then he saw you with him.
A young man, handsome, confident, clearly taken with you. You smiled at him, said something that made him laugh. Nanami clenched his jaw.
Before he could think better of it, he was moving.
“Excuse me,” he muttered to the group he had been standing with, barely registering their response as he strode across the room.
You looked up as he approached, brows raising in surprise. The man beside you hesitated.
“May I steal you for a moment?” Nanami asked, his tone leaving no room for refusal.
You blinked but nodded, excusing yourself from the conversation. He led you to a quieter corner, away from prying eyes.
“Nanami,” you said carefully. “What are you—”
“I’m sorry,” he interrupted.
You stared at him, caught off guard. “For what?”
He hesitated. He couldn’t tell you the truth—that he had been avoiding you because he was afraid of how much he liked you, because you made him question everything he thought he wanted, because you were dangerous in the way that made him want to throw away years of discipline just to see you smile at him like you used to.
So instead, he simply said, “For how I acted.”
A brief silence stretched between you before you let out a quiet laugh, though there was no humor in it. “Right. You’re apologizing for avoiding me.”
He nodded.
You sighed, looking down for a moment before meeting his gaze again. “I get it,” you said, softer this time. “You’re not interested. I shouldn’t have—” You shook your head. “I shouldn’t have tried to kiss you. That was my mistake.”
Nanami opened his mouth to argue, but the words wouldn’t come. You think I don’t want you. That I don’t care.
Maybe that was for the best.
“You don’t have to explain anything,” you continued, forcing a small smile. “We can just… move on, okay?”
He wanted to say something—anything—but his silence spoke for him.
You exhaled, shaking your head slightly. “Alright then.”
The moment felt too heavy, too final, and maybe that’s why he found himself saying, “You looked like you were enjoying yourself tonight.”
Your lips quirked. “Is that your way of changing the subject?”
“Yes.”
You huffed a small laugh, your tension easing just slightly. “Fine. It was… tolerable.”
“Just tolerable?”
“Okay, maybe a little fun.”
Nanami exhaled, some of the weight in his chest lifting. “Good.”
A beat of silence passed between you. It wasn’t the same as before—there was a distance now, one he had created. And yet, you were still here, still speaking to him as if he hadn’t spent the past few days pretending you didn’t exist.
“You really had no reason to apologize, you know,” you said after a moment. “You were just being honest. I can take rejection, Nanami.”
He flinched at that word—rejection. That wasn’t what this was.
But what was it, then?
Before he could answer, you continued, voice quieter now. “I just… I thought maybe you felt something too.” A small, self-conscious laugh left your lips. “But I guess that was just me misreading things.”
Nanami clenched his fists at his sides. Tell her she’s wrong, some part of him whispered. Tell her you feel everything she thinks you don’t.
Instead, he said, “You didn’t misread anything.”
Your brows furrowed slightly. “Then why—”
“It’s complicated.”
You let out a slow breath. “Right. Of course, it is.”
The air between you felt heavier now, like something unsaid was pushing against it.
Finally, you smiled again—smaller this time, but still undeniably you. “I should get back.”
He nodded. “Of course.”
You turned to leave, but before you walked away, you glanced over your shoulder. “Don’t avoid me again, Nanami.”
He swallowed. “I won’t.”
You didn’t smile, but there was something softer in your gaze before you disappeared back into the crowd.
Nanami exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair.
He had gotten what he wanted.
So why did it feel like he had lost something?

Nanami adjusted the cuff of his suit jacket as he stood near the grand entrance of the event hall. The soft hum of conversations and the distant clink of glasses drifted out through the open doors, but he stayed just outside, avoiding the chaos of introductions and small talk. His eyes scanned the arriving guests, his expression calm but distant, until movement at the bottom of the staircase caught his attention.
You stepped out of the car in a gown that seemed to catch the light in all the right places, the fabric shimmering as you moved. There was an ease to your steps, confidence in the way you carried yourself that drew attention without you even trying. Nanami’s usual stoic demeanor faltered as his eyes lingered on you for a moment longer than he intended.
When you finally spotted him, a smile spread across your face, and you made your way up the steps toward him. “Wow,” you said as you stopped in front of him, your tone light and teasing. “Waiting for me already? I didn’t know you’d miss me that much.”
His brow raised slightly, but there was a faint flicker of amusement in his gaze. “You’re late.”
“And you look amazing,” you countered, ignoring his comment. “Though I guess that’s nothing new.”
For a second, he hesitated, then said, “You look stunning.” His voice was calm and measured, but the sincerity was unmistakable.
You grinned. “Careful, Nanami. If you keep complimenting me, I might get used to it.”
“Don’t count on it,” he replied dryly, but there was a faint trace of softness in his tone.
Looping your arm through his, you gave him a quick glance. “Come on, partner. Let’s go show these people how it’s done.”
Together, you walked into the grand hall, the golden light of chandeliers illuminating the elegantly decorated space. The room was filled with influential guests, all dressed to the nines, their conversations blending into a hum of polished sophistication.
The two of you navigated the crowd with practiced ease, moving from group to group. You were the conversationalist, effortlessly charming everyone you spoke to, while Nanami maintained his reserved composure.
At one point, you found yourself speaking with a prominent philanthropist and his wife. The man looked between you and Nanami, his smile warm. “You two make quite the pair,” he said.
You laughed lightly, nudging Nanami with your elbow. “Don’t we? He’s the serious one; I’m the fun one. Perfect balance.”
Nanami shot you a brief look but said nothing, his lips pressed into a thin line that might have been suppressing a smirk.
“And what do you think of the event so far?” the man asked, directing his question toward Nanami.
“It’s well-organized,” Nanami replied simply, his tone polite but distant.
You jumped in to soften the answer. “That’s his way of saying it’s great. He’s not big on small talk, but he appreciates quality when he sees it.”
The couple chuckled, and the conversation flowed easily, though Nanami contributed only when absolutely necessary. As the night went on, you continued to draw him into conversations, subtly coaxing him to engage with the guests.
Eventually, after what felt like hours of mingling, you caught sight of a set of French doors leading out to a garden. You turned to Nanami and whispered, “Escape plan?”
He glanced at the doors and nodded, following your lead as you slipped outside.
The garden was quiet, the hum of the event fading into the background. The air was cool, carrying the faint scent of blooming flowers, and the stars above stretched endlessly across the night sky. You walked over to a small balcony overlooking the grounds, leaning against the railing and sighing in relief.
“Much better,” you said, glancing at Nanami, who stood a few feet away with his hands in his pockets. “Admit it, you’re glad we came out here.”
“It’s quieter,” he admitted.
You laughed softly. “Exactly. I don’t know how you survived in there without losing your mind.”
“I had you to distract me,” he said, his tone matter-of-fact.
The comment caught you off guard, and you turned to him with a grin. “Was that a compliment?”
“An observation,” he replied, though there was a flicker of something softer in his gaze.
“Well, either way, I’ll take it,” you said, looking up at the stars. “It’s kind of perfect out here, isn’t it? Like a scene from a movie.”
Nanami’s gaze followed yours to the sky. “It’s… peaceful.”
You studied him for a moment, a smile tugging at your lips. “You’re not as impossible as you like to pretend, you know.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Is that supposed to be reassuring?”
“Maybe,” you teased, leaning slightly closer. “Or maybe I’m just trying to figure you out. There’s more to you than the whole stoic-law-student thing. I can tell.”
His eyes met yours, and for a moment, the distance between you seemed to shrink. “And what exactly do you think you see?” he asked quietly.
“Someone who cares more than they let on,” you said, your voice soft. “Someone who probably feels too much but keeps it all bottled up.”
Nanami didn’t respond right away, his expression unreadable. The air between you seemed charged, and the world around you faded into the background.
You tilted your head, your gaze dropping to his lips. Slowly, you leaned in, your heartbeat loud in your ears.
For a brief moment, you thought he might meet you halfway—but then he stepped back abruptly.
“Don’t,” he said, his voice firm but not unkind.
You blinked, stunned. “Nanami, I—”
“I need to go,” he interrupted, his tone steadier now. Without waiting for your response, he turned and walked back toward the hall, leaving you alone under the starlit sky.
The cool night air seemed sharper as you stood there, trying to process what had just happened. Above you, the stars continued to shine, their light indifferent to the moment that had just unraveled beneath them.
Not gonna lie I would have slap the shit out of nanami cause how are you going to embarrass me in front of them people (ง'̀-'́)ง(ง'̀-'́)ง

He was never home.
Today was no different of course, he wished you a good day before you were even awake and now here you are. Sitting in his favorite restaurant, in his favorite dress, dressed to the nines all for him and he didn’t show up. Your texts have gone unanswered and your calls sent to voicemail as you wait for your husband to hopefully show up.
He never did.
So you brushed off the sympathetic glances and left in the rain, and when you finally made it home, the wound left by being stood up only stung more as you had forgotten about the rose petals you had scattered that were meant to be a surprise upon the end of your date. A date the two of you had planned for months. A date he said he wouldn’t forget. But here you sat, forgotten as easily as anything else outside of his work despite his promises that it wouldn’t happen. You sighed knowing you were gonna have to clean this up before he got back but you just couldn’t find the strength to do so as you dragged yourself to your shared bedroom and collapsed onto the bed, your heart heavy and eyes glazed with tears. You had waited hours only to be forgotten and you knew it would only happen again causing you to cry and sob into the bed until your eyes grew heavy and your breathing even.
Only hours later did your husband return, his blonde hair disheveled from his work day and confusion crossing his face as he walked in to see you vacuuming up the rose petals no longer dressed up and your face stained with tears. “What’s wrong love?” He asked concerned as you stepped away from him “you forgot Kento, again” you hissed as he looked at you confused for a moment before it finally slapped him in the face; he forgot your guys’ date.
“Love, I’m sorry work ran long and-” he started only to stop knowing excuses wouldn’t make this better, not anymore. “I’m sorry I forgot” he whispered, pulling you to him gently unsure if you would even let him hold you. But you did, you let him pull you in apologetically “I’m so tired of being forgotten” you sniffled knowing if you spoke to much on the matter you’d only cry more and you weren’t sure you had enough tears for that “I waited in the rain for you ya’ know?” you told him as he only held you tighter “It won’t happen again love I swear it” he whispered as you shook your head “it’ll happen again, it always does” and he couldn’t deny it, not when you seemed so sure of the fact and you were right it happened again and again, but somehow he always made up for it and somehow he always would.

Ao3 Version
Work was shit. He always says that. As an Ex Salaryman, he stayed and sat in his cubicle almost 24/7. All he thought was making money because if you didn’t have money, you wouldn’t survive in the real world, It was an unhealthy mindset that he had all those years. “Work is shit”.
He finds himself not taking care of himself for days, weeks, or even months just to finish every work he had. He lacks sleep, the bags under his eyes are getting darker and darker each day.
He lacks nutrition, He usually eats bread and coffee and says “He had lunch”, Yet sometimes he finds himself not eating and drinking for several hours. It was an unhealthy habit for him.
He didn’t want to go back to the Jujutsu World, or rather he doesn’t want to go back, but he knew running away wasn’t the answer to his problems, After all, He can still see curses, he couldn’t escape that world even if he wanted to.
The world was unfair. that was is perspective in life, some people living their best life without risking their lives to humanity whilst others risk their everything at a fairly young age just to survive this shitty world. He was right, the world is unfair.
Their lives were like a ticking bomb, you’ll never know when it will explode, Sooner than later? Their lives are like a gamble, one wrong play on their cards and it’s all over.
But something came into his world from what he didn’t plan nor controlled it, It was you. He was an observant person yet he didn’t notice that you were watching him from afar. You watched him to see if he’s doing well only to see his current state, and like every person feels, you were concerned about his current habits.
He didn’t expect someone to approach him, he thought he blend well with the others, but in your eyes, he didn’t. The first time you approached him, he gives this cold aura like usual however, there is something more than his cold aura, something... warm.
The idea of attachment wasn’t his thing, he knew this because of what happened in his past, It took him a long time to move on, trying his damn hardest to forget about what happened, trying his damn hardest to stop blaming himself because he knows his best friend wouldn’t like that. He knew the consequences of getting attached to someone, either they will stay or leave. He had tried pushing you away, but you didn’t budge, you knew he needed someone, someone to heal and fill his empty and broken heart, yet he doesn’t know he needed help until he met you.
He didn’t know why you stayed, it upsets him yet why does he feel euphoric? It didn’t help when you were always there to take care of him when he doesn’t do it to himself. You we’re always there for him, you were selfless, you put him first before yourself. It made him feel bad, he didn’t deserve the kindness you give him.
It was only a matter of time when he realized... he was in love. He said to himself to never fall in love or better, never started an attachment to someone only to end in a sad ending, yet... he made an exception, for you.
There was something special about you that made his heart race every time he spends his time with you. Maybe the way your eyes flutter like you were part of the royal family. Maybe the way your hands felt soft to his callused one. Maybe how your voice and laugh never failed to send butterflies in his stomach. He doesn’t like it when his plans doesn’t go as they usually do, but for you, he didn’t care anymore.
He was willing to take any of the risks just so he can spend his life with you. He was always selfless, but for the first time, he wanted to be selfish for once, he had fallen for you, deep. Yet he felt afraid, afraid that you would reject him, afraid that you would leave him after he had confessed his love to you, it scared him, it really did.
You knew better, you had picked up the small changes when he’s with you, he’s much softer than before, sometimes you can see a small tint of light crimson on his cheeks. You can't help but felt amused seeing a stoic man feel like this, it made you fall even deeper.
He still remembers the day he can finally call you his. He wanted to cry, he felt overjoyed that you felt the same way, he wanted to hold you forever, he wanted to take care care of you like one of the kind fragile beautiful glass he wants to keep forever.
He didn’t know if it was the right time to say this, his feelings for you grew and grew each day, it overwhelms him sometimes. He sometimes thinks about what would happen if you didn’t come into his life. He studies you whilst you admire the moon from afar as a warm smile made his heart beat.
“The moon is beautiful, Isn’t it?” He was caught off guard with a simple question as he looked at the moon above. You were right, it was beautiful as the moonlight shines. He thinks again, ‘Is tonight the right time?’, nonetheless, he pushed his negative thoughts and goes for it. ‘Fuck it’.
“Y/N...” it made your heart race, it was the first time he used your first name, It made you think for a second, and then you realized, he was gonna do it.
“I love you” You smiled, then turned into a small giggle, you couldn’t help it. “I know” He was taken back from your answer as his cheeks was slightly flushed, was he really that transparent about it?
“What do you mean by that?”
“I don’t know, I just felt like it, But... I’m glad you felt the same way, Kento” It was also the first time you used his first word, it made his heart beat faster than before. You slowly approached him, leaned forward as you grabbed his collar lightly, pulling him closer until your lips met his.
The butterflies in his stomach have gone wild, His heart beats rapidly, he didn’t think it would go so fast, nonetheless, he didn’t protest. His arms have wrapped around you pulling you closer, he didn’t want to let go, he never wanted to let go of you, it felt like heaven.
Both of you slowly pulled away, you met his gaze, he met yours. you couldn’t help but laugh ignoring your flushed cheek. he laughed as well, the butterfly in your stomach grow as you heard his deep voice, you couldn't help but bury your face in his chest.
He held you tighter, you did too. It was one of the best moments that has happened to both of you. Finally, he can call you his, and you can call him yours, It felt like home.
‘Maybe the world can be fair sometimes..’
He went back to the Jujutsu world, it was a much more suitable job for him, after years of running away, he came back, there was no sense why he still kept running away, something in him didn’t felt right.
yet he was afraid, afraid that he may never come home to you, afraid that he wouldn’t have enough time for you, afraid that you might get tired of him.
He knew that coming back has consequences. But you reassured him that it was okay and you understand, It was okay that he didn’t have enough time for you, you reassured him that you will never get tired of him because you love him. But you were afraid too, Afraid that he might never come home, that he will never come back to you, but you knew better, he was strong, he always keeps his promises.
he had explained everything after the incident, the incident where a flyhead was terrorizing your home. He had seen you crying in the corner of your bedroom whilst the flyhead still roams around freely.
he explained about the Jujutsu World and how it works, you had wished that you could do something to help him yet he reassured you that you don’t need to, and he just needs you by his side, and you did.
Your relationship was secret, the secret to the Jujutsu world, he didn’t want his senpai, Gojo Satoru, to learn about this, he also did it to keep you safe from the curses, being that you were an easy target to abduct or worse, torture you. He made sure you were alright, he made sure you were comfortable in his home, he made sure you were healthy, and you did the same.
But when this kid named Itadori Yuuji entered the Jujutsu World, He had to overwork most of the time, it annoys him, he wanted to spend time with you yet he comes home late at night to see the sight of you either sleeping on the couch or sleeping on the dinner table. So he tries to make things up, every weekend without a fail, he spends his time with you ignoring his annoying senpai and the higher ups.
But somehow Gojo along with his first year students accidentally spotted him with a person talking to him, and for the first time, they saw the stoic man smiling, Gojo couldn’t pass this opportunity to tease his kouhai, but he was also curious on who the person was considering they were the first one who made him feel like that for years.
“Nanamin!” an unfamiliar voice called your boyfriend in the distance, you had noticed that Kento flinched quite a bit making you confuse who was it.
“God, why is he here?” He groaned in annoyance as he placed his two fingers in the bridge of his nose, “You know him-” A sudden arm wrapped Kento’s shoulder making you stop as you noticed the man was a little taller than Kento, he also had an unusual white color which you don't see often.
“Nanamin, why didn’t you come with us?! also...” He begins to turn around, finally making eye contact with you, “Who is this?” but before Kento replied, the blacked haired teenager suddenly smacked him in the head, “Gojo-sensei, you shouldn’t approach others unannounced.”
“..Sensei?” you accidentally blurt it out without even noticing, “This is my senpai, Gojo Satoru, and this is his first-year students, Kugisaki Nobara, Fushiguro Megumi, and Itadori Yuuji, He’s the one I’ve been supervising” Kento introduces whilst the teen bowed as a sign of respect.
“As I was saying, who is this?” He asked again but this time, you looked over Kento eyeing if he wants him to know, ‘Are you okay with telling the truth?’ ‘Yeah, he’s bound to know sooner than later, besides I don’t want him annoying me if you didn’t tell’, “Oi oi oi! are you talking using your mind?”
You couldn’t help but let out a chuckle as the sight of the man named gojo annoying him, “I’m sorry for not introducing myself to you earlier, I’m L/N Y/N, I am Kento’s significant other, it’s a pleasure meeting you all” it went quiet, you wondered if you said something wrong, “Let them process” He whispered reassuring you that you didn’t say anything bad.
“You have a significant other?!” Gojo, Nobara and Yuuji said in sync whilst Megumi only widen his eyes—“Yes and I would have kept it for longer” “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME?! YOUR FAVORITE SENPAI! I FEEL BETRAYED!” you let out a giggle as you admire your boyfriend whilst his senpai annoys him.
However, as months have passed, he picked up the slightest change you had. You had headaches quite often, you brushed it off thinking it was just stress but it didn’t help that it had woken you up in the middle of the night. You became more nauseous, you weren’t a nauseous person but it had gotten worse when you started to vomit frequently. You had mentioned that you had trouble hearing and blurry vision. You tend to forget things easily.
Sometimes, you lost balance making you fall or even trip, what’s worse is that sometimes he can’t predict your mood. It concerns him, it was slowly getting worse as days, and weeks have passed. He suggested going and see a doctor but you always shrug it off and said “I’ll be fine”, He wanted to force you to go see a doctor, but he didn’t want you to force you into something you’ve already disagreed on. But that was his mistake.
He remembers that day well, it haunts him, where you suddenly have fallen on your knees. It brings him pain just remembering that day.
You were waiting for him in front of the gate, you wanted to surprise him so you planned to pick him up from Jujutsu Tech, but the longer you waited, the more your headache has gotten worse. You question why you have been feeling like this for the past months, you were slowly considering going to the doctor but you just sucked it up as you saw Kento leaving the building with Gojo and the first-years.
His gaze spotted you as you waved at him and shouted—“Kento-” however you suddenly felt a painful ache as you put your hand on your head, then a wave of dizziness hits you making you lose your balance as you fell to your knees.
“Y/N!” you heard a faint voice, your hearing is slowly getting worse, and so is your vision, all you see is a blur as you felt a hand behind your back, it was Kento’s. The pain was unbearable, tears threatening to leave your eyes “Kento... I-It hurts—My head hurts, my vision is blurry, I can hardly hear...”—You whimpered as tears streaming down your face, It truly hurts, “Shh, It will be alright, I’ll bring you to Ieiri-san”
he hated seeing you cry or in pain, despite that, he sucked it up as he picked you up making his way to his female senpai.
He didn’t feel the same, He was never gonna be the same, after all, you were is home. when Ieiri had brought the news, it had broke Kento’s heart. Was this the risk in your relationship?
He waited, he’s a patient man, he can wait forever to make sure your alright, so he waited—Anxiously. he had taken a seat whilst Gojo and the first years waited on your condition, they grew fond of you, you were like their parent figure to them. The female doctor suddenly makes an appearance, closing the door behind her gently as she looked a the group whilst Kento got up from his seat.
Her face was unreadable, he knew it was bad, but he had hope. “I’ve got good news and bad news, the good news is that Y/N fine” She paused, she was very hesitant to tell the bad news, “... And the bad news?” She let out a sigh, staring at his eyes and said;
“Y/N have Brain Tumor”
He felt like his whole world crumble, he didn’t know how to process it, that news ruined him, Is he about to lose you? he can’t, he didn’t want to, he already lost someone before, he doesn't want to lose you. Why didn’t he took you to the doctor immediately? He blames himself—he could have did something to prevent it, yet he didn’t.
You were his comfort every time he needed someone to hold, his special person who made him better, his person he always want to come home to, You were his home.
“It seems like they had it for the past few months, usually the tumor in your brain can be removed in an early stage but...” She trailed off her words, sometimes, Kento wished he didn’t understand this kinds of situation so easily, he easily understands that it was nearly your time to leave this world for good.
“they won’t make it, right?” He spoke up, he didn’t want to believe it, but it was the reality, a harsh reality. “Sadly yes. Due to their condition right now, I can only suspect that Y/N will live for a day or less than that..”
“W-wait why?!” Nobara protested, ever since she had met you, she had grew fond of you, maybe because you were an easy outgoing person, “It already grew a lot, all we can do is to accept it.” She started to turn around and walk away slowly, “B-but your a doctor! You should be able to save them!” “Kugisaki, that’s enough” Megumi rested his hand on her shoulder as she shot her eyes on him, “Nobara, I know how you feel but not all doctors can save every patient.. You can visit them if you like”
It went silent, even Gojo went silent, what would happen if he didn’t met you? Would he be happier? Would be like this? “If you would like to visit Y/N, please do” He had excused himself, He didn’t want to face you right now, not with his current mindset, “But-” “Let him be Yuuji, He needs some alone time right now”
He questions himself, why you? out of all the people in this planet, why does it has to be you? He overthinks everything, his memories with you flashes, he had chosen this, he knew the risk but he didn’t know that... this was the risk of it. Time has passed, he didn’t even noticed it until his senpai had texted him. ‘You can visit them now, we’ve left a while ago’
he made his way to the empty hallway, He had kept his deadpan face for so long, sometimes it made you think when will it break, however you didn’t think it would break on your deathbed. He stood in front of the door, He hesitantly knocked the door and said, “Y/N..” “Kento? Is that you?” You immediately responded, he knew you were waiting for him so he gently opened the door as he gently close the door behind him making his way to the bed you are currently in.
He look into your eyes, and you look into his, you were still gorgeous to his eyes, he had noticed that you were gesturing him so come closer, “Come Kento, I wanna talk with you” You smiled, like you weren’t about to die, like you weren’t about to leave everything, leave him. He made his way on the empty chair beside you as he sat not leaving his eyes from you.
“...How are you feeling?” He asked, you can hear the concern in his tone, face and his eyes. “I feel fine, though I’m a bit tired”, You grabbed his hands and caressed his hands, it still amazed you how big Kento’s hands compared to you. It was quiet, it wasn’t awkward, the silent was comforting to the both of you, “I’m sorry...” you had broke the silence, he was taken back, why did you apologize?
“Why are you apologizing?” “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you, I guess this wasn’t stress after all” a small chuckle leave your lips, It truly wasn’t your fault, if he had known this, he would have prevented it, if only- “Kento.” Your voice snapped him on his little thought, you looked at him, your gaze is much more different than earlier, “Are you thinking about things you can avoid this situation?”
It still surprise him how you can always read him like a book, you were like the author in his own book, “I should be the one who apologize, not you” A soft chuckle escaped your lips again. He kept his deadpan face, but it seems like it was almost about to break, you’ve noticed it, your eyes soften whilst you held his hands caressing his fingers gently, “Aren’t you afraid?” He asked, “Afraid of what?” “Of death..” You think for a second then your lips curled as you look him in the eyes and said, “Why fear something unavoidable? everyone has to experience it.” It went quiet again, He has a lot to say, why can’t he say it?
“You know, I always wanted to live in Malaysia, Kuantan Malaysia... with you”
“Yeah... we’ll have our house near the beach, every morning we take a walk in the shores, reading some books in the balcony whilst having tea, watching the sunrise and sunset with you...” You paused as you look at the window whilst the moon slowly shows itself, it had surprise Kento that you had plan a future with him, he lower his head as he felt his tears threatening to flow.
“Maybe we'll get married there too, we’ll have our wedding and the venue in the beach, invite our friends and family, and have a good time. Maybe we’ll get a pet, you know how I love animals. Then maybe—just maybe... we could have a child together, running around the house, running at the sand, and sleeping in our bedroom. Yeah, that’s sounds about right...”
Your eyes left the window as you looked over at Kento whilst you heard a quiet sniffle, A soft yet weak laugh left your lips whilst he kept his head low, He had plan on quitting the Jujutsu life once they have found all the Sukuna fingers but he didn’t plan far ahead, “Don’t cry Kento or else I’ll start crying” A broken chuckled escaped as you tried your best not to cry.
A smile crept up on your lips as you began to raise his head, seeing him cry had broke your heart, he never cried in those years you’ve been together but you had seen his vulnerable side however all you wish is to see him smile one last time. “Kento...” you began to cup his cheeks as you caressed with your soft hands whilst he began to put his hand above your hand.
“I wanna see you smile, darling” You sob, your tears have left the corner of your eyes yet you still smile, he watch as your teary eyes flutter, your glassy tears roll down your cheeks, he then began to wipe your tears away whilst you kept staring at his beautiful eyes, “Darling..” “...Yes?”
“I don’t regret meeting you, because if I haven’t met you, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, thus why I want you to live longer than I did, We can meet again later on, Okay?” Finally, he gave you a genuine smile, it made you sob harder seeing how you won’t see that wonderful smile again, “I love you Y/N”, you didn’t said it back, instead, you grabbed his collar lightly and pulled him in until your lips met. It felt like the first kiss you’ve had with him, it felt like home.
You both pulled away, you stared into his eyes, and he stared into yours, your forehead is touching letting your tears fall as you both cup each others face. Your eyelids felt heavy as you slowly close your eyes, a small smile thug your lips ready to say your final words.
“Kento...” Your voice was weak and soft, it was almost a whisper, but nonetheless, he heard you say his name,“...Yes love?” A deep sigh escaped your lips as Kento waits for your final words.
“...You got it from here”
You both stayed, not letting each other go, you both stayed feeling each other’s warmth, you both stayed until your hands lets go of his face on its own, you both stayed until you took your last breath, you both stayed until you left him forever, you let your tears roll for the last time, he stayed holding you dearly.
He pulled away, yet you were still. He held you, he didn’t want to let go, after all, all he can do now is to cry whilst he held your lifeless body as he hear the flat line tune. And for the last time, he saw you sleeping peacefully, smiling.
“... I guess we’ll meet again, my love”
The sun has set, the moon has risen, the day will soon be over with a soul flying through the heavens far above.
Patient’s Name : L/N Y/N
Time of death : 7:30 PM
Date of death : July 30th of 2018
Cause of death : Brain Tumor
He wasn’t the same as before, he became a lot more reserve and rarely talks anymore, breaking the news to your family was agonizing, he had to witness your parents cry and breakdown, breaking the news to the first-year students was also agonizing, Gojo even have to excuse himself, you were the only one who made him feel like he was a normal human being rather than a God to worship, Megumi tried his hardest to kept his tears inside and as for Nobara and Yuuji, they burst into tears. Honestly, it was a sight he didn’t want to see.
The funeral was held, everyone who knew Y/N came, Seeing your grave simply breaks his heart, he didn’t cry, he simply couldn’t cry anymore, not because his upperclassman was here, it’s simply because he had cried out his tears that there were no tears left to cry. He stayed in front of your grave whilst the rain touch his suit.
Home wasn’t the same anymore, he’s so used to saying “I’m home, love” that he stills says that only to realize you weren’t there anymore and was only met with silence, There was no music when he comes home from work, There were no kiss before he leaves or when he comes home, it really hits hard for him. He tried living normally without you, he really did but your warmth brings him comfort, he can only see an empty space on his bed.
His sleeping schedule had gone worse, he didn’t want to sleep because he keep seeing you in his dream, he miss you so much. sometimes he can't help but think what would happen if he didn’t met you, surely he wasn’t in this state, he would be living peacefully, yet it wouldn’t feel right. His upperclassman tries his hardest to cheer him up, because he had promised you that he will try to comfort Kento in his lowest.
“You got it from here”. Your last words, it opened another memory of him, it was his last words, last words before he had his final breath and left him.
After a while, he slowly starts to accept it, he slowly starts to take care of himself more often, he finally starts sleeping more rather than staying almost all night just to ignore his dreams. He learned to accept it slowly, it still hurts him, but this is something you wouldn’t like. He never fails to come to your grave everyday with flowers in his hands, tells how his day went and how the others are doing. He tends to take care of your belongings, making sure their clean and well organize, it’s something that reminds him of you.
Yet here he is, Inside a special curses domain, he observed the place well, only to find that there was no way out. A deep sigh escaped his lips as he look at his opponent. He already accepted his fate, after all, there was nowhere left to run nor hide, maybe he can finally meet you again, your sweet and warm smile.
“Idle Transfiguration. I am grateful to you”, He gently remove his glasses putting it inside his blazer, “I don’t need gratitude” His lips curls up as he lazily smiles and utter, “I’ve already received it from lots of other. Thanks to Y/N, they made me feel what love is. I have no regrets.”
Until a fist suddenly made an appearance at the center of the domain, His eyes widen when he saw Itadori suddenly appearing from the air, then a familiar atmosphere sends shivers through his spine, he swore it felt like you, telling him to ‘Don’t rush your life, ken’ .
“Nanamin...” Itadori suddenly called him as he glanced over the pink haired teen, “What’s wrong? Itadori-kun” his voice was gentle and stern, his gaze soften when he saw Itadori’s saddened eyes.
“Aren’t you afraid?” He raised a brow curiously, “Afraid of what?” “Of you know, death... we fight curses, we don’t know when we’ll die...” He find himself taken back from his question, it’s not like other people question this to him but coming from a student, he didn’t blame him for being scared, he was just a student after all, he still have a lot to live yet his death is already planned.
He thought about it, his lips curled up as he let out a small chuckle whilst the boy glances at the blonde man, “...Why fear something unavoidable? everyone has to experience it, It’s only a matter of time.”
Death has time, time if you are ready, they say death is an “Internal Loneliness”, but he thinks it's quite different. He sees death as if it's like being free from the chains humans was imprisoned it. He interpret it as freedom, where you can finally rest peacefully, that’s how he sees death.
Yet he finds himself walking in an empty hallway in Shibuya, Half of his body is burned, he lost one of his eyes, he’s tired, no, he’s exhausted. He has been fighting curses for years, and years, the cycle never ends, he wanted to rest, rest with the others, rest with haibara, to rest with you.
Still, he fights as he sees the large group of curses in front of him, he wonders when this will end, he wonders when will he retire then all of the sudden he remembers the place you mentioned, Kuantan Malaysia.
“Malaysia. Yeah, Kuantan Malaysia... would be nice”
He imagines a life in a secluded beach, watching the sun rise and fall, watching the waves as it hits the rocks, finally get around to the countless books he bought but never read, Going through them page by page, kinda like taking back the time he have lost.
He had remembered about the others, he had to head over the save Fushiguro—’Wait, what about Maki and Naobito? they were also burned from that special grade curse. What happened to them...?’
“Kento.. you’re tired.” Tired... ‘Yeah... I’m just tired. I’ve done enough, Haven’t I?’ “You’ve done enough”
He still fights, even though he's tired. He sliced a curse, then again, then again, then again, until every curse that was near him was dead, standing in the middle after he sliced the last curse, Mahito suddenly appeared as he placed his palm onto his chest, the same curse he fought twice.
“I didn’t know you were here...”
“Yup. The whole time, wanna chat? We go way back after all.”
‘Haibara, Y/N... tell me, what the hell was I trying to do anyway? I already ran away but came back with a vague reason of finding work worthwhile. Sometimes I question myself, why did I go back?’
He suddenly saw his classmate, his best friend, Yu Haibara, in front of him pointing at his left only to see itadori suddenly stopped from running. ‘Did I came back... to help others after running away all those years ago...?’
“Nanamin!”
‘No... I can’t say that to him, that's not right. I’ll just end up becoming a curse for him... Hey, Y/N, Haibara, it’s alright, right?’
“Itadori..” He called his name as Itadori’s eyes widen, He give his final and genuine smile, “You got it from here..” He finally let out his last breath, Finally, He can finally rest with the others, Haibara, and you. He can finally go home. He hated that he was leaving everyone behind, but his selfish part of him was glad, glad that he can finally see you again.
He lazily opened his eyes while a light shines through making him squint as he put his hand above his head cancelling the light, He was finally able to adjust his eyes through the light, his eyes widen when he heard a familiar voice, “Oh! Nanami!”
He was speechless, he had stood still whilst he’s still processing. ‘Beach... Haibara...?’, It couldn’t been an another domain, there’s no mistake. He’s dead.
“Oi! Nanami! Are you there?” He called him again, finally, he snapped from thinking, he stared to Haibara, he still looked the same, he was still the Haibara he knew, he was still the Haibara he spend time with, “Oh my, Nanami you’ve age a lot for your age” The boy let out a laugh but it was cut off by a human’s warmth as he realized that Kento had hugged Haibara.
“Shut it. I can’t believe you left me first.” He let out a soft chuckle as he felt his friends arm wrapped his body returning the hug, “I didn’t think you’ll get into a relationship, I’m really happy for you” He slowly opened his eyes whilst they pulled away to each other as Haibara gave him a warm smile.
“They’re waiting for you.”
Without saying a word, Kento began to ran, ran towards the shore, He felt desperate yet he didn’t care, he wanted to see you again, he wanted to see your smile again, he wanted to hear your voice again, he wanted to feel your warmth again, he just wanted to be in your arms again, he wanted to go home on your arms.
After searching, he had finally found you, standing in the water, wearing a simple white dress as you look a the horizon, he had stood still, he wanted to see you yet he couldn’t believe that you were standing, you slowly glanced over Kento yet he still havent move. You slowly made your way towards his frozen body, it made you chuckle.
Here you are, standing in front of him, he was still as handsome the last time you saw him. “Hi Darling, I didn’t think you’d follow me sooner.” You slowly began to put your palm over his face whilst you gave him a sincere smile, “You did such a good job, It’s time for you to rest” you paused, as you reached out your other hand holding his whole face.
“Welcome home, Love”
He suddenly grabbed your waist as he pulled you close to his chest whilst his face was in the crook of your neck. He sobbed quietly, it felt unusual for him to cry, but he didn’t care anymore. He sobbed quietly, he can finally hear you again, feel you again, he can finally see you again. He sobbed quietly as he felt those familiar fingers finding their way through his hair, the feeling he loved to dearly. He sobbed quietly, He can finally say he really is home.
